CONGESTIVE HEART FAILURE
REMEMBER:
- Pace or limit activities to a moderate level of effort.
- Rest when you experience shortness of breath or fatigue.
- Follow your low-salt diet.
- Take medications as directed.
- Your doctor should direct the use of alcohol.
- Weigh daily at the same time and record your weight.
- Attend your doctor appointments.
- Get annual flu shots and a pneumonia vaccine, if advised.
NOTIFY YOUR DOCTOR IF YOU EXPERIENCE:
- Persistent cough
- Shortness of breath
- Chest pain
- Difficulty breathing while lying flat
- Swelling of your feet, ankles, or abdomen
- Sudden onset of shortness of breath while sleeping
- Weight gain of greater than two pounds per day or five pounds per week
- Not tolerating food, fluid, or medication
- Progressive weakness or fatigue
- Unexplained difficulty or concerns
